Agentic At Large
The same governance fire is burning at two altitudes. Enterprise identity governance has a name and a canon now. The SMB version of the same problem — priced out, not unaware — hasn't been written yet. This week, it is.
U4A.ai, built on UMA 2.0 by Eve Maler and Nick Gamb, is the protocol-level answer at any scale. Owner sets access terms once; agents negotiate scoped, time-boxed access against them — enterprise delegation chain or four-tool small business stack, same logic.
The control plane needs a floor to stand on. UMA governs who may act. It doesn't govern where the agent and the data actually run. A growing share of SMBs will need local inference, local storage, and bandwidth budgeted on-premises — not routed through a third-party model by default.
It's also the first thing attackers target. Most organizations are one compromised IdP away from total auth failure — and their AI agents make the blast radius 10x worse.
Every piece of intelligence from Signal Fire Aim follows the same pattern — the problem, the shift, and why the window is now.
When the IdP goes down, authentication stops. Revenue stops. Operations stop. Manual failover takes hours. AI agents make the blast radius catastrophic.
Rubrik + Strata redefines identity from a security problem to a resilience problem. Identity Continuity means auth never stops. Identity Roll Forward means clean recovery, not a stale rollback.
Every enterprise deploying AI creates non-human identities at scale. Rubrik Agent Cloud governs them. The announcement is coming. The organizations ready for it will be the 4%.
Signal Fire Aim is the GTM intelligence layer for the agentic era — covering identity governance, AI security, and enterprise technology for CISOs, CIOs, and the people selling to them.
Published by James Murphy under the Agentic At Large brand. Eight months tracking Strata Identity, Maverics, and the non-human identity explosion before the Rubrik acquisition made it enterprise news.
